Community Health Centers Provide Free Application Assistance

Call center assistance

Community health centers in Nebraska serve over 123,000 patients a year at 85 service delivery sites across the state.  The community health centers provide high-quality, affordable health care homes for anyone seeking medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy and enabling services.  But did you know that all of the community health centers also provide free application assistance through their Outreach and Enrollment Departments?

Outreach and Enrollment departments at community health centers have Certified Assisters who are individuals who are trained and educated in the different options for health insurance and assistance such as Medicaid, CHIP, SNAP and even the Health Insurance Marketplace.  Enrollment assistance at our community health centers goes way beyond just the application; it’s an opportunity for empowerment and self-determination and to look at each individual as a whole. We provide holistic support to individuals seeking to enroll in health insurance and other assistance, taking into account their unique needs, preferences, and circumstances. Whether it’s navigating insurance options, accessing financial assistance programs, or connecting with community resources, we are committed to ensuring that every individual receives the support they need to thrive.

Assisters are trained in:

  • Health Insurance Marketplace/ ACA (Affordable Care Act)
  • Medicaid/Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • SNAP (food stamps)
  • General Assistance
  • Sliding fee scale (income-based)
  • Medicaid Unwind and Returning to Regular Operations

Assisters do more than help with health insurance. They can also:

  • Guide you through SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications
  • Assist with general assistance programs such as Aid to Dependent Children (ADC), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Child Care Subsidy
  • Explain sliding fee scales to make health care more affordable
  • Connect you to local community resources and support services

They’re here to help you and your family find the support you need to stay healthy and stable.

Are you uninsured, lost coverage, had a major life change like a baby or job loss.  Or are you looking for additional health coverage for you or your loved ones?  You may qualify for Medicaid or Marketplace Insurance.  The Assisters provide free help with your application and you don’t have to be a patient at the community health centers.  This service is available to anyone who needs it.
